This has been an amazing week. First a prize from @LynchSyndromeUK and now a prestigious award from the @AACR. All this started with a clinical PhD with @FBMH_UoM under @ProfEmmaCrosbie and Prof Evans. We do it for the patients. But it feels so lovely to be recognised. Thank you
Congratulations to ‘Team Womb’ who will receive the prestigious @AACR Team Science Award for their pioneering work on Lynch-syndrome associated endometrial cancer 👏 The team are from @MFTnhs, @OfficialUoM, @MCRCnews and Manchester BRC. Read more 👇 https://t.co/AkdoQxhvcw

3.) our SST @neilajryan has helped make a podcast on Lynch syndrome. Worth a listen. It highlights what the standard of care for Lynch syndrome should be as well as well as what still needs to be done. A busy week indeed.
Episode 3 of the @journal_TOG podcast has been released! @alexgrammatismd and @DrJoMorrison1 speak to @neilajryan about all things Lynch syndrome. Log into RCOG Learning to listen. https://t.co/6X6gZ8TCdK

2.) Mr James May, one of our consultants, alongside Mr Zanellato from general surgery, inserted the first biological mesh in a patient in Scotland. This will make a huge difference for them and shows the collaborative spirit here @RIE_Lothian

This week has been a busy week for the depart. 1.) we will be opening a trial of a new device to help detect gynaecological cancer in partnership with @bottomdoc. This, we hope, will be far more comfortable than the current means of getting a diagnosis.

Being ready for your surgery is so so so so important. The fitter you are in body and mind for your operation the shorter your stay in hospital and the lower the risk of post operative complications. We have a dedicated specialist nurse to help you.

This week marked international Lynch syndrome day. Lynch syndrome increases your risk of cancer and runs in families. Many don't know they have it and so we cannot help them prevent their cancers. See information @LynchSyndromeUK to learn more.
