White privilege. I know I have it. I know I need to use it for the good of all and tackle institutional racism. Constantly listening, trying to understand and learning to be a good ally. https://t.co/DOsMAnZpFq

If you want to be an ally in the fight against racism, start by acknowledging your white privilege. Then take action that supports the Black community.

Usually, taking a stand means going somewhere and doing something. This time, it’s important to understand that we’re all saving lives by staying home. This simulation explains how social distancing slows the spread of #COVID19 and protects others.

The early trickle of new coronavirus infections has turned into a steady current. By creating simple simulations, we can see how to slow it down.

"coal mining employs 38,000 people in Australia. Tourism employs 924,000. Climate-driven fires mean hotel rooms sitting empty, cafe meals not eaten, tours not taken." The coal industry is suffocating the economy. #ClimateEmergency #AustraliaFires #auspol https://t.co/GYOfFQYoG7

As businesses confront billions of dollars in losses from the bushfires, there is much more at stake for Australia than its coal industry.

I hear many say “2019 was the year when the public woke up to the climate crisis”. This is a misconception. A small but rapidly growing number of people have started to wake up to the climate crisis. This has only just begun. We’re still only scratching the surface.

Bottom trawling churns the sea bed up like a ploughed field. It damages the ecosystem and reduces carbon capture. It is the equivalent of clear felling a rain forest and then ploughing the soil. We need to adopt modern fishing methods - this is archaic technology!

““The great tragedy of the climate crisis is that seven and a half billion people must pay the price – in the form of a degraded planet – so that a couple of dozen polluting interests can continue to make record profits.”

Wow! This farm produces 15% of Australia’s 🇦🇺 annual tomatoes using solar power and seawater. It uses zero fossil fuels, zero soil, zero pesticides, zero groundwater.
