This tech employment recession is painful, but helpful to put in historical context. In the last two years, Bay Area tech employment is down by 36k jobs, roughly 3.7%. In the four years of the so-called Dot Com bust, the Bay Area lost 193k tech jobs, or 26.9%.

For all the improvements in AI, autocorrect is almost always wrong when it chooses between “we’re” and “were.” It’s true across applications and I wonder why this is the one that is so hard to make the right inference from context. A flip of a coin would be more accurate.
