Updated transmission permitting chart from @NEMAupdates which includes changes from BIL, IRA, and FRA, as well as some placeholders for potential FERC rules on planning and cost allocation. tl;dr it still tales 10+ years to permit most large-scale projects...
Reposting the 10+ year permitting process for an interregional transmission line below. It's about a lot more than just the environmental review. The grid solutions we need will require rethinking over a century of transmission policy.
