Now that critical Science-Twitter mass has been achieved on BlueSky, it is time to delete X accounts. It is the only responsible action, although sad to throw away 15 years of engagement.

I have picked up 130 new followers on BlueSky in the last two days, so there is apparently a mass exodus and/or follower transfer apps. Now at 1/4 my nominal twitter followers, but probably all active vs a few dozen active. Please join us over there. Critical mass achieved.

Super happy for Amy's next steps. She is setting up to do some very revolutionary work that integrates epigenetics, natural variation, molecular biology, and evolution. Very, very lucky to have her in the lab these past few years!
I am very excited to announce I am starting my lab as an Assistant Professor @FloridaState this week! The lab will be focused on understanding the basis of individual variation in complex traits using a variety of genomic approaches and primarily using C. elegans as a model.

Nice story on the new research initiative on synthetic biology and aging that I'm helping to lead at the UO. Very exciting times ahead in this field, I think.

🚨 New preprint alert 🚨 We've generated a new gapless genome of Caenorhabditis brenneri🪱, one of the most diverse metazoans! We compared its genome and gene organizations with other nematodes with smaller population sizes. Check it out! https://t.co/y4LwypFRkT

How many academic papers are written with the help of ChatGPT? To answer this question, we analyzed 14mln PubMed abstracts from 2010 to 2024 and looked for excess words: ** Delving into ChatGPT usage in academic writing through excess vocabulary ** https://t.co/yorlDLjozw 1/11

Our latest, in Lab on a Chip. Super cool and super high tech — and super hard to get right. 10 years of work to figure out a way of automating high precision demography in C. elegans: The Egg Counter!

Reproduction is a fundamental process that shapes the demography of every living organism yet is often difficult to assess with high precision in animals that produce large numbers of offspring....

I enjoyed this conversation with Katherine Wright about workforce development supporting new and growing #electrochemistry industries. We're looking forward to graduating our 100th MS electrochemist by the end of 2025!
This #EarthWeek @PhysicsMagazine explores issues related to sustainable battery technologies. First up an interview with @PAKempler about @OregonEChem's hands-on electrochemistry training that can be done in just over of year (no 5-yr-long PhD needed). https://t.co/A7eTl8HecK

Amazing work from team @pastramimachine and friends.
Researchers have found the oldest known sex chromosome in animals — the octopus Z chromosome — which first evolved in an ancient ancestor of octopuses around 380 million years ago

We will be advertising multiple postdoc and research assistant positions in a new effort on synthetic biology and aging in the coming months. I'm attaching a note in case folks want to hear more about what we have planned, especially if you want to talk to me at #TAGC24.
