A few shots from yesterday’s ⁦@svrofficialsite⁩ ‘TractorFest’ celebrating 65 years of the Class 37. It was rather damp but a great day and managed to bash all 8 locos which were operating.

York Tap. Last orders pre KFC cos I'm soberer than I was in Oxon. Owlie McBurnie says hi. Floor 8/10 despite no carpet. Toilets less bad than usual. First spooky beer of the season. A fine station pub.

Peter Rayner’s funeral yesterday, well attended as you’d expect of such a legend. Full and standing in railway parlance. Rest in peace Guv.

@philatrail Note the linkage of a revived scheme to decarbonisation, the least important benefit from electrification. A reminder that the industry jumping on the decarbonisation bandwagon was a massive mistake . Also no drive from Network Rail to finish MML - just lots of talk fests

Pub 3184, Pelican Inn, Gloucester. Back street Wye Valley gem. Cathedral bells n local accents n hairstyles help. I could live here. In the pub, not Gloucester. Deuce drinks juicy. Early finish if my bus manoeuvre works!

Here is an excellent article by Roger Ford “Informed Sources”, MR June 2025 on the December 2025 ECML timetabled change, and is well worth reading and gives a good insight into the many complications which are affecting it’s introduction from both freight and passenger operators.

Is this the most stunning building you've (probably) never heard of? It should be one of Britain's, or even Europe's, most famous buildings. If you want to find out more...
