we should be deeply concerned about this and need some solid policy moves on it. Access to land is one of the biggest risks to the future of farming. We associate land grabs with the global south (and that’s a huge issue) but it’s happening here too. Green grabs are a big concern
Land Grabbing is Back – This Time Risks are Even Greater. Nick Jacobs of @IPESfood with some some dedicated insights from the new report on Land Squeeze. #Landgrab #LandSqueeze

"One of the slow scandals of Ireland is the way we have allowed those waterways to deteriorate...Much of this deterioration has been caused by the pollution of rivers with nitrates from waste water, cattle urine and fertiliser run-off." https://t.co/O5LLYoOl21

Over the last few decades, we’ve driven the salmon from our rivers, recklessly but ruthlessly

In today's @IrishTimesOpEd, my colleague @SadhbhO lays out @foeireland's central message to @SimonHarrisTD who has named "security" as one of his key priorities as Taoiseach: "If he's serious about security, climate change needs to be top of his agenda". https://t.co/Cei1u3BU4s

Climate change could increase competition for land, food and water and drive inequality, conflict, migration and volatility

Aha, thought I smelled a 🐀 here on TwiX, have been bombarded with these recently, while reach of my own tweets has been dramatically throttled & new followers dropping to virtually zero. That’ll be Mr Elmo Freezepeach in action, no doubt.

The ferry has finally arrived at Cherbourg. Now the calves will be on their way to a control post where they will be unloaded and wait their turn for feeding, which takes over 8 hours. Do the maths. Some of these calves will be deprived of feed for over 35 hours. @StenaLineUKIE
Truck after truck seen arriving at @Rosslareuroport this afternoon full of bawling calves. The first truck was seen at 14:15 and the ferry has just left, nearly 5 hrs later. How long have those calves already gone without feed? @StenaLineUKIE doesn't give a sh*t. #BanLiveExports
