Really interesting study on the (lack of🤦‍♂️) effects of trigger warnings and content warnings. If we can’t rely on this simple approach, then we may need to think more carefully about the actual content being put out there.

We just released a meta-analysis on the efficacy of trigger warnings, content warnings, and content notes (preprint). Here's a short 🧵 explaining the results with graphs and figures.

Our analysis of suicide rates in India in the first year of COVID, led by Vikas Arya @unimelbMSPGH. Data are far from perfect, but findings were of concern. @SASHBristol @ProfAnnJohn.

So divine to see the sky whales take flight this morning at Yarra Bend. Love the sentiment about the important role of carers, the backbone and heart of our communities #skywhales

Academics speaking beyond their expertise… hmmm, we’ve certainly had a slice of that during covid. It’s an important issue to find a healthy balance on. All good points @ProfLAppleby.

At some point in Covid recovery, there’s a necessary but painful discussion to be had about public engagement on data & evidence. About hounding of researchers doing their job. About academics speaking beyond their expertise. About serious harm #media & SoMe comment can cause.

Such a privilege to have connected with the amazing Selba and her NGO Afri-Aus Care. Here she describes her struggles with mental health and the deep value she found in the African Ubuntu philosophy focused on social ethics and common humanity. A wonderful community leader 🙏🏻❤️.
