In PACTED in Addis Ababa, GCE, together with ANCEFA and the African national education coalitions, joined the global celebration of World Teachers' Day 2025. UNESCO dedicated this year's commemoration to the theme “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession.”

Central to this commitment is the recognition and respect for teachers’ pedagogical expertise and academic freedom.

On World Teachers' Day 2025, the Global Campaign for Education calls on all governments to urgently increase investment in quality public education systems, uphold labour rights, and ensure decent working conditions for teachers and education support personnel.

In PACTED, ActionAid, Education International, the Global Campaign for Education and the Global Partnership for Education are advocating for increased domestic financing of public education systems sustainably and progressively, complemented by predictable external financing.

The Conference also launched the AU Decade of Accelerated Action for the Transformation of Education and Skills Development in Africa (2025-2034).
