Mark your 2025 calendars!. The @GEOSEC2025 Global Forum is happening on May 5-9, 2025 in Rome Italy! The inaugural forum also coincides with GEO's 20th anniversary and the adoption of GEO's Post-2025 Strategy Implementation Plan.

Held during the Science Technology and Innovation Day, the members of the GEO-LDN team also gave an overview of the current global LPD and LC/LCC datasets and introduce the availability of high-resolution data for land degradation and restoration monitoring. #UNited4Land.

#COP16Riyadh Day 8 recap. The GEO-LDN Flagship team has been busy in the Blue Zone and Green Zone with various engagements today, December 9. #UNited4Land

This initiative will address critical data gaps for Land Degradation Neutrality, biodiversity, and climate change, empowering SIDS with tools for resilient and sustainable land stewardship. "It's one concrete next step to insuring that land can support all life on earth.".

Looking forward, GEO-LDN will collaborate with the United Nations University to launch a Regional Dialogue Forum with the Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in 2025.

Antje highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between data providers and decision-makers to prevent land degradation, sustainably manage land, and restore degraded ecosystems.

Antje Hecheltjen, Co-Chair of the GEO-LDN Flagship, contributed to todays Panel on "Healing our Land through Science and Earth Intelligence" in the Blue Zone at #COP16Riyadh.

Communicating data to local communities is an important part, as emphasized by GEO-LDN Co-Chair Neil Sims. Sims: "A story can be a fantastic way to relate a real personal experience to a map and to changes being shown through spatial data.". #UNited4Land.

However, Benin has yet to establish more consistent and up to date reporting. Gevorgyan noted that while there is a lot of data, there are still big gaps that need to be addressed, including reliable and timely data.
