Crazy how one of the core ideas of #LLM’s can be traced back to Claude Shannon’s 1951 @BellLabs paper “Prediction & Entropy of Printed English”. Other than brainiacs at @AnthropicAI @OpenAI and @GoogleDeepMind, I wonder how many people realize how far back this stuff goes.

Went to see Geoffrey Hinton speak at U of T last Friday. Will share link when the recording is out, but to hear ‘the Godfather of AI” say the Turing Test was passed this year, was a pretty mind blowing thing to hear. He was actually pretty funny too.
