Another sad day in US History relating to the tribal nations of North America. I tweet about conservation genetics, but the recognition of the rights of sovereign indigenous peoples is an important step in the global effort to conserve biodiversity.

The vote was 5 to 4, with the majority finding that an 1868 treaty did not require the federal government to ensure the tribe had access to water.
