The Freedom Theatre is a community-based theatre and cultural centre in Jenin Refugee Camp, occupied Palestine that uses culture as a form of resistance.
For over 4 months, our producer Mustafa Sheta has been imprisoned by Israel
In response to the question “What can we do?” about Mustafa's arrest, artistic censorship & the genocide in Palestine, we have launched The Cultural Intifada
GET INVOLVED:
Zakaria Zubeidi co-founder of The Freedom Theatre who has been in prison for the last 2 & half years has dug a hole and escaped out of Israeli jail with 5 other prisoners. Jenin is celebrating

Last night 16-year-old Jana Zakarneh was shot in the head and murdered by the Israeli army in Jenin Refugee Camp. She is remembered as a feminist who spoke out for the rights of women.
She is the 15th child from Jenin to be killed this year.
We are sorry to share more terrible news.
Last night, 17-year-old Yamen Mahmoud Nabil Jarrar, a youth participant at The Freedom Theatre was also murdered by the Israeli army
It's with shock we share the news of the murder of 16yr Milad AlRaee, shot in the back by the Israeli army
Milad is the nephew of our former Artistic Director Nabil Alraee & Stagemanager Habeeb Alraee.
Our love, solidarity & rage are with Nabil, Habeeb & their whole family

The team at The Freedom Theatre would like to end 2023 by thanking our friends around the world for their ongoing support.
We are overwhelmed by every person who has stood up for us, our theatre and our team. We are endlessly grateful for every act of solidarity.
Last night Jehad was murdered.
Many will know him as the smart and cheeky boy, who spent his childhood growing up around the theatre.
In the coming days, we will write more of our memories, grief and rage. But for now, we will take a moment to comprehend what has happened

Something pretty extraordinary happened today. Over 100k on streets of London. Over 80 protests elsewhere. People saying in one loud voice. " Palestine we are with you" Next Saturday we go again this time with a National March.
Last night Zakaria Zubeidi was taken by the Israeli occupying army. We are deeply concerned for his safety & that of all political prisoners, who are kept in horrendous conditions & are often subjected to extreme violence & torture ❤️🇵🇸
