THREAD: Israeli Apartheid Week is a global event where students at universities across the world seek to educate and inform about the ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people and encourage students to campaign for an end to that injustice and respect for the rights of all.

I am wholly opposed to Israel Apartheid Week making its way into our academic institutions and have written to the Universities Minister to ask him to ensure that the any breaches of the IHRA definition of antisemitism are dealt with swiftly by the relevant authorities.

That people like @RachelRileyRR can be given public platforms to disseminate their racist bile using the cloak of antiracism is one of the most overt manifestations of the poverty of current political discourse.

That you can consistently put out things dripping with racism, dehumanisation, & make libellous claims about those standing in solidarity with Palestinians is abhorrent. That there is no accountability & Rachel Riley hasn’t been fired by @Channel4 for it, is sadly unsurprising.

This, as appalling as it is , is worth a watch as an exemplar of the moral vacuum at the heart of Liberal Zionism. She pleads that she doesn't want to " play the victim card" but the core message is that the world's sympathy should be overwhelmingly directed at Israelis.

The line of questioning here "does Israel have a right to exist" is a tired canard. If it means, does Israel have a right to exist as a state practising the crime of apartheid then the answer is clearly no. South Africa did not have that right. No state does. Its not difficult.

Zionism is a political ideology that says that Israel has the right to maintain itself as a state which privileges the rights of Jewish people over indigenous Palestinians. To be anti zionist is to oppose that and the ethnic cleansing inspired and justified by Zionism.

Note the lip service commitment to International Law, made hollow by the failure to condemn Israel for its evident war crimes. Note also references to Israeli civilians being "murdered" and Palestinians "dying". This is a basic moral test and Labour is failing it.

The lack of a widespread response to this across the political establishment - the fact that that this will attract little comment- shows how normalised such discourse is. Imagine the response if he had said Jews are by nature Islamophobic.

For God's sake. Stop playing games with people's lives. Aid CANNOT be safely delivered without a ceasefire. Nor can infrastructure be repaired which is necessary for life. If you care about the lives of innocent Palestinians then call for a #CeasfireNOW or you remain complicit.
