See my latest: A report on why limitations of shipping capacities in the #CaspianSea as well as problems with.#BlackSea #ports in #Georgia (especially the port project in #Anaklia) pose serious challenges for the development of the #MiddleCorridor.

Crowd at #GeorgiaProtests against #GeorgiaPresidentialElection grew, but still only remains in the hundreds. Some creative protests in icy winds but over all hardly active atmopshere. (Photo taken at 1027).#Georgia

None of this nor anything else can justify disproportionate police actions, but the fact that protestors do play a role in escalations should also not be ignored or denied. (7/7).

That protestors continue to directly launch fireworks at parliament & police and get cheered on by the crowd means that they:.- either act without thinking about obvious consequences; and/or.- deliberately intend to provoke police to intervene and escalate. (6/7).

It should also be noted that, when the police more or less ignored fireworks, protestors, in the night from 30th November to 1st of December, went farther and farther until they managed to cause at least two small fires inside parliament by shooting fireworks inside. (5/7)

It’s obvious that launching fireworks directly against persons & buildings is potentially harmful/illegal & gov/police has made it clear over the past days (incl. through attempts to prevent sales of fireworks) that they see such use of fireworks as illegal and provocations.(4/7).

Riot police & water canons that eventually moved against protest were only mobilised late ( — and only *after* protestors again and without apparent reason launched fireworks directly at parliament and police stationed there (.(3/7).

00:00 December 7 - #Tbilisi. Despite police efforts, including sealing off fireworks warehouses in Tbilisi, protesters are still firing fireworks in front of parliament on the 9th consecutive day of #GeorgiaProtests.

E.g. night of 6th December: police presence around protests was minimal, suggesting that police did *not* intend to do anything major that night (. (2/7).

Tonight, for the first time since the eruption of mass #protests in #Tbilisi #Georgia on 28th/29th November, there is *no* heavy riot police presence and no heavy water canons standing by, but mostly only a few regular policemen. Photo tonight 2306; below tweet for comparison.

Thread on #GeorgiaProtests. While various police behaviour against protestors in #Tbilisi #Georgia does raise serious worries and is rightly highlighted, the often portrayed notion that protestors play no role whatsoever in escalations is *not* accurate. (1/7).

Apparent reason is that, since 4th December turnout of protestors, although still high, has notably dwindled and there have been almost no violent clashes between police and protestors anymore. #Georgia #GeorgiaProtests.

The urgency of some fresh tactics & some actual strategy is rising. Today wasn't small. But maybe 40-50% fewer people than at peak. While I'd have killed for these numbers a week ago, it's also true we're a step closer to the scenario below 👇. BUT🧵.

While the area in front of the parliament of #Georgia was indeed packed during the past nights, tonight it was *not*. Photo from today (5th of December) 2333. Still overall a high number of protestors on Rustaveli, but *not* packed. #GeorgiaProtests

Current situation on Rustaveli Avenue: while reported restrictions on sales have reduced use of pyrotechnics during Tbilisi protests in past few days, some fireworks can still be heard around the parliament. The area remains packed. #GeorgiaProtests.🎥 Rusudan Chanturia
