Soon even the opposition leaders who attended the kangaroo "investigation" or paid bail will be in jail. Yet Georgia looks almost normal albeit depressed & hopeless. But it pays to recall that history suggests this won't last. GD is pushing its luck. There will be rebellion again.

Bitter irony that I walk past police poised to arrest @vashadzegiorg on my way to pick up a passport at the super-efficient Public Service Hall Vashadze set up. I get to renew my passport in 2 hours but his reward is to rot in regime jail. Full solidarity to Giorgi.

My impression of today:. Numbers: Impressive crowd!. Atmosphere: Fireworks are back! But it was low energy overall. People are depressed & it shows. Overall: It's a win to still be going 5 months in. But GD won't be quaking over yet another standard aimless "stand around" protest

Because the right's "anti war" stance is "surrender to fascists" and/or "why should we fight to save foreign lives". The left's anti-war stance is "don't start wars of aggression and colonisation". "Why not peace with Hitler/Putin?". vs."Don't attack Iraq/Vietnam!".
I can’t get over the fact that being anti-war is now coded as rightwing.

Of all the dirty lies, the one about Ukraine being anti-Palestine is one of the dirtiest. It's because Zelensky is Jewish right? They should just admit they are antisemites. In reality, Trump & Netanyahu both backed Russia at the UN, while Ukraine recognises Palestine & backs 2SS.

This protest movement has given rise to the establishment of new political forces in Georgia. Today a new, Social Democratic movement was formed by some of my friends. These new platforms and parties are much needed. Best of luck!

Just openly fawning over Putin at this point. Judging by the pro-oppo commentariat, I think Georgians are the last people on earth still clinging to denial that Trump is Putin's guy. No number of Joe Wilson pills are gonna change that reality
