After a very wet weekend (around 1.50" at PDX Fri - Sun) we're in for drier weather the next few days. Spotty showers continue Mon w/sun breaks, but we'll be mainly dry Tues/Weds. Brief rain early Weds while most of us are sleeping, then sunshine & temps back in low 60s midweek!

Showers will continue overnight, but wind gusts are decreasing in strength. Our lightning counter has detected more than 1,000 strikes in the last 24 hours, mostly along the coast w/ a few sneaking over into the valleys. 3-day forecast here:

Strong wind may cause power outages today! Strong southerly winds arrive mid-day/this afternoon, gusting around 35-50 mph in the metro/valleys. The strongest gusts are near the coast and may get as strong as 50-65 mph. Secure loose objects and plan on some outages later today.

Our First Alert Weather Day is ALL CLEAR for the rest of the night! Besides a couple stray showers, mainly clear and calmer through early Saturday morning. The next system arrives with a punch-- back to rainy with even stronger wind tomorrow. Wind warnings/advisories in effect:

The wet systems this weekend will deliver some fresh snow to the Cascades! Snow levels will bottom out around 4,000 feet on Sunday, so we're thinking that'll be our snowiest day (6-12"). Some additional info on Cascade pass travel below!

3:00 update: So far just sct'd showers and sun breaks! These funnel cloud photos are from yesterday (Sat) via viewer Mike Johnson near Long Beach, WA. No official reports of funnel clouds though, according to @NWSPortland. Let us know if you capture anything interesting!

It'll be windy tomorrow, but most of our rainfall totals are happening between now and 2 a.m. Scattered showers with a possible downpour during daylight hours Sunday- and be aware conditions are right for funnel cloud formation!

It's been rainy since dinner time, with PDX already picking up more than 0.25" of rain. The main front pushes through around midnight, so plan on steady rain overnight and breezy showers Sunday. More:

UPDATE: NWS cannot confirm for sure if this was a tornado, but investigators believe the area sustained 80-85 mph winds. It may have been a particularly strong gust.

Around 3p a heavy line of showers passed thru Longview, resulting in damage to a few buildings. The Longview Fire Dept reports a roof partially collapsed. You can see weak rotation on radar, so it's possible the cause was tornadic- NWS is investigating

Today will be the coolest day of October so far! Steady rain will linger through most of the daylight hours. An isolated thunderstorm is possible, mainly near the coast. Snow levels drop to 4,000 - 5,000 feet, brining the first snowfall of the season in the Cascades!

Snow at Timberline! And so it begins... The first snow of the season has arrived at Timberline Lodge. We're expecting several inches of accumulation through Monday morning. Passes only get an inch or two, so roads could be slushy at times.

Get ready for a cool and rainy weekend! Not as wet Saturday with the scattered showers (mostly in the afternoon), but Sunday will be a gray and rainy day basically from start to finish. Dry by late morning Monday! Models are giving us about 1/2 to 1" of rain through the weekend.
