This poster sold at auction today for £22,000 I had around a dozen of these left over from a flyposting trip around Mcr city centre in early July 1976. Went back to my parents house a few years years ago to retrieve them. Mum had binned the lot.

Still a common sight in Tiree: tarred felt, hipped roof with rounded ridge - all about keeping your lid on in the windiest part of the UK. Slightly outward leaning chimneys lessen the likelihood of the stacks falling inward and destroying the roof. Design based on experience.

Another picture from Ness that isn't part of my exhibition at Comunn Eachdraidh Nis... a little further up the road from CEN is Ness Post Office. At the time I took this (Jan 2011), it was the 3rd most north-westerly Post Office in the EU. The other two are/were also in Ness 📬

OTD 1978: Buzzcocks and The Slits play Croydon Greyhound. Captain Sensible turned up. So did a top-hatted John Lydon - fresh back from Jamaica following the Pistols split. After the gig, Nora (Ari-Up's mum/future Mrs Lydon) took us to her gaff in Chelsea for drinks and nibbles.
