This compares to 1,506 new build starts last year and 1,956 the previous year.
Meanwhile over 47,000 households on the waiting list - 75% in housing stress
.

hears that DfC can only fund up to 400 social housing new starts in 2024/5 compared to a target of 2050. This is the result of the cut of 38% in the budget this year. This will only compound the housing crisis with ever lengthening numbers on the waiting list.
