The work isn’t finished starts once firefighters return from tonight’s fire, clean up and make ready for the next run is the immediate task before anyone goes home. Even our 9 new recruits chipped in and learned the important task of working together.

Harmful chemicals can be inadvertently transported from the fire scene to the fire station via contaminated PPE and tools used on the fire ground. This leads to cross-contamination and exposes firefighters to secondary exposures. https://t.co/URu9Fg6wf0 #FFCancerMonth

There is a common misconception that because the fire is out, you are out of danger. Read more about the importance of wearing an SCBA during overhaul. #FightFFCancer #FFCancerMonth https://t.co/D44tlFZIfg

Photo by @DrLoriUSFA from her visit with @FDNY following the fatal #BronxFire learning what can be done to prevent future tragedies. From the soot-covered hallway, you can see into the nearly pristine apartment adjacent to the apartment where the fire started. #CloseBeforeYouDoze
