I gave a devotion today on the similarities between brat summer and ordinary time. I don’t know who the target audience is for these thoughts, but I think I have concluded it is not the people who were listening to me.

In the last 24 hours I have learned that I don’t know the difference between Tinas Turner and Arena. And I also don’t know the difference between Tina Arena and Vanessa Amorosi. I have been singing “Absolutley, Everybody” since I heard of Turner’s passing.

Always interesting at a #sydneywritersfestival event to see a 90% female audience but almost 50% male audience members asking the questions in the Q&A.

But in the meantime, if you need a schools ministry newsletter, this one is heading into its second year.

But the question only seems the more pressing for one year of a single newsletter. And I am still pondering, and sometimes imagining and scheming. Still not 100% sure what is needed or in what form because schools are all so different.

A year ago a colleague challenged me. He said that if I thought there should be meaningful support for schools ministry in Australia then I should do something about it. So we did. Hope for the Hopeless (our newsletter of resources, research and trends) turned 1 last week 🎂🥳

For the last few years I have ended my Lenten fast when I have completed my last Easter service (which in schools is normally mid-Holy week). This year I am not running any services, so can anyone tell me when I can eat chocolate again?

Loved getting to preach as part of this century, I included mention of Mary Magdalene, Perpetua, Catherine of Siena, Florence Nightingale, Katharina Shultz-Zell, Margaret Fell Fox & Marie Dentière, as well as Maude Royden, the first woman to preach in a @SydAnglicans church.

Great to hear Fiona Isaacs @fiisaacs preaching up a storm on John 8:31-59 at St Marks Darling Point @mpjensen today, on the centenary of women preaching in the Sydney Diocese @SydAnglicans

Americans do liturgy way better than Aussies. Thanks @ASDAnglican, I enjoyed joining you for worship this morning (even if I didn’t always understand the accents).

Could not be more impressed with Sydney International airport this morning. Through Qantas check-in and security in less than 30 min. Now I have extensive time to kill.

Victoriosity is hands down my favourite steam-punk, slow release, fictional-comedy-crime podcast.

"For Whom Dr Bell Toils" Episode 1 is out now! Septimus Bell (@philisbusy) begins his 'Introduction to Forensic Pathology' lectures and explains how pathologists should never, *ever* get drawn into mysteries beyond the body in front of them... https://t.co/RFdPPrJnVW

Hannah Arendt is my favourite philosopher to teach Year 9 about.

Was so encouraged by the opportunity to preach at St John’s Darlinghurst today. Got to talk about the overwhelming love and power of God & got to hear about the cool ways he is at work in that community.

I have now hung this tweet in my Grade 11 classroom so I can point to it several times a lesson.

“at over 300 words in length, this meandering descriptive sentence is the longest in a novel which frequently moves into loose complex grammar of mutually subordinate clauses.”

“Pocket editions were not in fact available in 1828, pointing up Anne Brontë’s lack of real concern for historical verisimilitude.”

Currently reading “The Tenant of Wildfell Hall” and loving that in this edition, the author of the notes appears to hate Anne Brontë. Sample Content: “The author awakens intermittently to the memory of the epistolary device.”

Hey @AusElectoralCom in a Federal Election about 10 years ago, I was inside the polling place & someone who was instructing us about where to line up was loudly talking about how bad one of the parties was. I have been curious since then, is this allowed?
