This morning members of FS11, Penn Daw hosted a breakfast for current & former members & their families, a tradition that brings generations together. From recruits to those who served back when FS11 was a volunteer company, the room was filled with stories, laughter & memories.

Week 2 is in the books for Recruit Class 167! This week, RC167 began EMT training, which included becoming CPR certified and learning the fundamentals of patient assessments.

#FairfaxsBravest are on the scene of a 2-alarm house fire in the 15400 blk of Meherrin Ct in Centerville. Units arrived to fire showing from all levels of the home. Crews extinguished the majority of the fire & are working to hit hotspots/start overhaul operations. No injuries.

#FairfaxBravest are on the scene of a townhouse fire in the 2300 blk of Liberty Loop in Herndon. Units arrived w/ fire showing from top level of a townhouse complex. Crews quickly went to work and were able to contain the fire to a single unit. The fire is out. No injuries.

Captain Adam Lieb recently completed 25yrs of service with #FCFRD. Captain Lieb’s first assignment after graduating from the Fire & Rescue Training Academy was FS17, Centreville. He is currently the captain at FS17 on B-Shift. Congratulations, Captain Lieb!

Fill the Boot is this weekend! Since 1954, firefighters across the country have collected funds as part of Fill the Boot to raise money for @MDAorg and support their mission of empowering people living with neuromuscular disease to live longer, more independent lives.

Over the weekend #FCFRD teamed up with @mcfrs for joint swiftwater & river operations training. From reviewing boats & rescue equipment, this training strengthens our regional partnerships and boosts shared response capabilities. Strong collaboration=stronger outcomes.

Around 1:45am Tuesday #FCFRD responded to a house fire in 9600 blk of Commonwealth Blvd in Kings Park West. Crews located & extinguished a fire in rear of home. No injuries. Preliminary investigation found the fire was caused by an electrical event at the air conditioner unit.

Introducing the 35 members of Recruit Class 167! Today, they officially began their journey through the academy. They will spend the next six months training with the best to be the best.

#FCFRD knows smoke alarms save lives! After a fire, crews visit houses in the neighborhood ensuring homes have working smoke alarms & helping replace/install smoke alarms if needed. Smoke alarms give you an early warning so you can get out quickly if there is a fire.

This morning around 4:15am #FCFRD responded to reports of smoke coming from a strip shopping center in the 3000 blk of Nutley St in Merrifield. Units located a fire in the kitchen of a restaurant in the shopping center. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. There were no injuries.
