A map showing Cabeza de Vaca's journey. The Expedition, initially called the Narváez Expedition, set out in 1527 to explore and settle La Florida. It quickly unravelled, Narváez was killed, and Cabeza de Vaca and just 3 other survivors wandered the wilderness for 8 years!
