I am an educated Muslim, falling under this 2.75 per cent of the statistic. I got my education despite the economic limitations growing up. Today, despite having a good job and a good education, I am explicitly denied a house in Delhi for the last 2 months citing my religion.
Only 2.75 per cent of the total Muslim population in India is graduate or above this level of education.
Muslims in India have the highest rate of illiteracy at 43 per cent.
The most urgent revolution we need is education.
Most urgent need is to start viewing Muslims as human beings and not box us into your "categories". The urgent need is for people to acknowledge the daily discrimination & not make us feel like second class citizens in our own country. I pay my taxes and deserve the same rights.
Yesterday, my broker, although sensitive of the situation, asked me to adjust in a ghetto. Educated working muslim professionals too get marginalised, only if you would care to see.
It's been two weeks since I moved to Delhi leaving home. Today, overheard a group by the tea stall talking in Marathi. In the cold windy evening, it felt warm hearing a familiar language. You may be imperfect, but I miss you, Mumbai. ❤️
Constables patrolling hav no clarity on essential services. Asked 2 civil dressed constables of Oshiwara police after informing I am from press, if timings r fixed for shops, he threatens to book me for violating sec 144.
@MumbaiPolice
plz ensure policemen don't harass civilians.
What do you call a child born to a Hindu mother and a Muslim father? A person born respecting both religions.
I am the result of an inter-faith marriage.
I know such marriages work, they need only one ingredient to thrive - Love. My parents are proof.

Long thread on coronavirus:
My uncle, 65, passed away with Covid-19, at 1.30 am on July 2 at Cooper Hospital. Less than 24 hours ago, he was admitted there after he reported severe breathlessness. This, after a private hospital in Malad denied him admission.

Our health infrastructure is in tatters, it's a fact. The doctors are still doing their best they can. But there are far too many holes to plug, way too many inequalities on ground. A mega star with mild symptoms got a bed immediately, only because he could afford to.

Girls also don't feel safe in dark noisy pubs when men there grope. Men feel emboldened during Holi too to catcall while getting high and molest under the guise of bura na mano holi hai. Creepy men are the problem. Not girls or the places they are at.

The negative effect of lockdown is everyday feels like a Monday. The new normal. 🤦🏽♂️

A genuine question. As we open things in a phased manner outside containment zones, why is there still a night curfew? You can go pray at religious institutions, shop in malls and eat at restaurants but effectively cannot go out for a walk after 9 pm? Who is afraid of the dark?
