In a world sustained by combustion, even just maintaining the GDP at current levels accelerates CO2 emissions and the rise in concentrations. To stop this either:. 1. We proactively collapse the economy now, or.2. Wait for climate change to do it for us later🧵

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt. This is simply false. UN data show solar 8x cleaner than gas, 19x than coal per kWh. Solar repays CO2 in 4months.

"I do feel that AI is in many ways a response to the general context of collapse". the concept of "de-computing" & more.well worth listening to.my take: We're trapped in a system that must grow to survive yet must stop growing to endure—and can do neither. 💠The Growth Paradox.

Convergence of crises: New research now predicts +3°C by 2050—a deathblow to climate stability—coinciding exactly with the biophysical limits of growth (energy collapse, resource depletion, systemic fragility.

Collapse isn’t about climate alone. Forget climate doom-porn—it’s the biophysical maths of infinite growth on a finite planet.Resource depletion, EROI collapse, and systemic fragility will unravel society long before 3°C.We’re hitting walls no tech can fix.

When will civilization collapse? Here's my case for about 2050: thread.1. Systems that grow fastest collapse fastest.2. In 1950 the energy demand growth rate was 0.7%/yr.3. In 1970 the energy demand growth rate was three times faster at 2.4%/yr

New seasons are emerging. "we argue that new seasons are surfacing. These emergent seasons are entirely novel and anthropogenic".Current extinction rates are estimated to be 100 to 1,000 times higher than the natural background extinction rate.
