I'm about 10 chapters into "You feel it just below the ribs" by @happierman and Janina Matthewson, and I'm finding it very hard to put down. It's a brilliant book. I just wish it hadn't been so hard to track down in the UK! Totally amazing piece of fiction @withinthewires

Different behaviours for different teachers and subjects will always happen, but identifying what engages the student and picking out the common threads is really valuable. Conversations like these are really important, especially for new teachers and across subjects. /2

Just seen a phrase that used to make my blood boil as a young teacher that I now find myself saying: "they behave for me." Now, however, once I've said it, I talk through what the differences are in the approaches and try and identify WHY a student's behaviour is different. /1

Anyone in here ever taught kids how to tea dual as part of an oracy unit? Thinking of a "treat" lesson for a class at the end of the unit @Team_English1 #englishteacher #steampunk

We had our first open SLT meeting tonight. Anyone could come along and join our analysis of the TES pulse results and discuss wellbeing and workload. 15 staff joined the usual SLT for a really productive discussion and action planning. Weโll repeat every half term.

My son is really struggling with spelling. Any apps people know of to help a 9yo practise? His reading is excellent, it's just spelling and grammar that cause issues

Does buying school uniform with an ND kid ever get less stressful? I hate making her feel so bad. I know that she will be fine once it is all washed and she's been in it for more than 10 seconds, but it's just heartbreaking watching it happen again and again

Twice in the last week, my 12yo cis daughter has been misgendered, predominantly because she has short hair. Once I let it slide but afterwards growled with her. Once I got cross and corrected, because she was nearly in tears. I fucking hate gender stereotypes
