"Flute Player"
A pixel art piece I did recently to test out my palette "Equpix15", which as the name suggests has 15 colours.

Wanted to try this "alien" look, some of you might get what I mean (hint: it's not the skin colour).
Regardless, this piece reinforces my conclusion that my palette,
#cgamibend4
, and palettes like it, are more fit for a graphical approach.

64x64 pixels for 4096 followers.
A few followers short, but I don't think it's too grave a sin.
Appreciate all your guys' support, I have lots of ideas for the future, so keep your eyes peeled!

"Giants' Forest", a piece I finished today for the weekly challenge on pixel joint "The Jungle Level" with the restriction of 12 colours.

I sometimes make rough sketches before beginning on the final artwork. This time around I ended up refining it more than I usually would, so I figured I might as well share it.

Helmet update. Frog, Vendel, Bascinet, and Hounskull.
Was going to make a spangenhelm + aventail & spectacles instead of the Vendel helm, but after a bit of research, and getting into an early medieval helmet rabbit hole, I decided to leave all "spangenhelms"for later

WIP study.
Previous post with the hand is part of a relatively large piece, which will take some time to complete, in-between I want to make some more straightforward, easy-to-complete stuff.

Well well.. Blame
@Neoriceisgood
for this diversion:
Suggest medieval helmets or headgear for me to pixel. Specific variations are welcome too, I know the great helm has many distinct versions as is.

A little 32x32 piece to commemorate reaching over a 1024 followers.
Appreciate you guys liking my art, there's more to come in the future.

I found working with the previous limited, and frankly unharmonious palette quite interesting. So I decided to make my own take on it, making it more harmonious whilst still retaining the restrictions of the original.
I call the palette "CGA Mibend4".

Got a bit of an itch for digital painting lately, maybe some sort of pixel sickness. In any case, here's something a little different.
Clothing design is one of my weaker areas, so I wanted to tackle that.

One of the skills you have to develop as an artist is a certain resilience to failure: accept it as part of the process, and let your self-awareness of it drive you forward.
The fact you're able to see error in your work, and not delude yourself, is in itself a sort of triumph.
Inprnt store is now open, for anyone interested in prints of my work.
Got my own prints today, that I ordered to make sure everything's up to scratch, and all in all I'm pretty satisfied. Quality's good and colours quite close to original, darks very saturated.

Idk man, I was gonna start working on the hounskull helmet for the collection, but then I noticed it has this derpy little smile that completely changed my perception of it.
Fun excuse for some grotesque practice though.
"Time Traveler", 2012
Still have a warm spot for some of my old art.
This one is probably one of my first proper pixel art pieces, created for a challenge over on Pixeljoint.
Bit of a goofy face, but the idea is pretty cool, execution not too bad either.

Some progress on a digital painting for a change.
Morphed more into a playground of sorts, for me to figure out my weak spots and misconceptions, but it may yet turn into something nice so stay tuned 🫡
New piece: "Divine Stars"
Continuing with a similar theme to my oil painting from last year "Unfulfilled Ambition".
20 x 30 cm, oil on linen

I'm sure you remember this guy. Left him hanging for a little while as other things got in the way, but I decided to finally lay him to rest.
All in all, very useful study—Rembrandt's approach/style is different to my own so I learned a lot.
It's interesting that when you just want to rough something out, and choose the colours without thought, that the result turns out balanced enough.
I tend to think colours are the most instinctual of all elements in art.

You know, one of the things I found quite interesting with these studies this time around, is the dichotomy between accuracy/imitation and the need to change certain parts to enhance the overall beauty of the image.

Cluster control in pixel art is very similar to brush stroke control in rough or semi-refined painting, both deal with visible abstraction, and both, because it is visible, need to manage it such that it looks good on its own.
