Fun for some and not others, my 2 yo hates it. She doesn’t even like to get her hands messy when she eats. But I am not worried about her immune system😀 So I wouldn’t force being in the mud on anyone!

Scenes from a Danish kindergarten. In Denmark, kids are encouraged to get muddy on a regular basis. Getting dirty isn't just fun, it's beneficial. Mud play boosts creativity, strengthens sensory development, and even supports a healthier immune system. https://t.co/jNRTINxhOF

Lol Ryanairs X account is crazy. I always fly with Ryanair if I can. The flight is cheaper than the travel to the airport

I don't think this story is true, but anyway: "Once, for publicity, Heifetz and Einstein were to play together. After Einstein kept playing a wrong rhythm, Heifetz finally asked him: "Can't you count?" Rhythm and playing in time are often taught through some kind of counting.

"You’re building a premium product and presenting professional-level pedagogy. Using screenshots for notation is like recording your trio through an iPhone in the bathroom and calling it a studio session." Lol yeah

Just got this from chat GPT: "If your goal is studio-clean, sharp notation inside presentations, screenshots are the worst possible method." That's exactly what I want, telling me that what I am doing now is the worst possible option.

Socratic dialoger has it’s use in taking down purported authorities. But is wrong and condescending to use when people admit ignorance and wants to learn.

It’s great to try a lot of things but this thing where kids should learn as fast as possible is bad IMO. Thomas Sowell talks about how nobody knew when he learned to walk because he was always carried by someone. Told to make the point that above all he was surrounded by

Recently discovered @strollerno and it reflects something we observed with our first daughter. She was always in a stroller when we were out, and walked very late. Our second we used it much less and she developed physically quite a bit faster. Using it even less for our third

I am playing piano. 2 yo takes the metronome and starts it, puts it on the piano and says “better now”.

(I actually disagree with Popper; there are a bunch of other thinkers I would call philosophers who have produced great work. But he was doing a secret third thing instead of useless thought experiments or going deep into obfuscation.)

Popper is on the side like: ”I have been the happiest philosopher I have met” Why, asks John Horgan: ”because other philosophers never seem to produce anything worthwhile”

The way to make this argument is to first acknowledge that the arguments against automation was wrong before, but now it is different because xyz. Otherwise we are just going in circles.

AI is going to wipe out at least 25 million jobs in the next 5 to 10 years. Probably much more. It will destroy every creative field. It will make it impossible to discern reality from fiction. It will absolutely obliterate what’s left of the education system. Kids will go

Every person who engages in philosophy is a tragedy. They have wasted their life, as surely as someone who is strung out on heroin, plays video games, or commits the supreme self-negation. We can only hope that they, in spite of their life choices, do something of use to society.

Although I am an atheist I think he is right. Just seems like in our culture christianity seems to have a moderating effect. I play a lot in swedish churches and I hardly ever meet people with crazy left or right wing views.

Trauma The idea that something is wrong to do if and only if it creates 'trauma' is a mistake. Experiences are theory-laden. If I get hit by a stranger, maybe I would get trauma. If Jocko Willink were to get hit, he'd probably shrug it off. Does that mean it's ok to hit Jocko?

I am conflicted about this. On the one hand, I feel slightly disturbed reading this. It just feels strange to talk about this way about a human being. Babies have reasons, just as adults have reasons. If a baby wants to be in their parents' arms, it seems so wrong to me to say

Looks like people are posting deranged takes on “cry it out” sleep training again FYI “sleeping through the night” is a teachable skill if you break it down into its component parts. All 4 of my kids learned to sleep through the night by ~3 months with minimal tears or drama
