We appreciate Governor Newsom reiterating his support for equitable access to higher education by encouraging exploration of future usage of a lineage-based admissions preference, specifically for American Descendants of Slavery. With the signing of SB 518 & SB 437, the #ADOSAF
New: Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoes bill that would have required California colleges to give admissions preferences to descendants of enslaved people, AB 7. The governor said colleges can already consider this factor when making admissions decisions. His veto message:
