Many people were looking forward to attending the Asian American Lit Fest & now @smithsonian @SmithsonianAPA has killed it with no explanation. This was planned to be part of a program consisting 10 writers in Australia & Aotearoa, of which has been gestating since 2021
In a move that shocked its organizing partners, the Smithsonian canceled the Asian American Literature Festival, scheduled to take place in just a few weeks, "due to unforseen circumstances." I asked them why:
