This is how I believe the state can start to create a system for districts and communities to work on their individual issues. These are reforms that work. They support students, lift up teachers, and strengthen communities. Current bills fall short solutions. #ReformPubEd.

Support Schools with Real Discipline Resources:.Teachers and principals need effective tools to maintain safe, focused classrooms. That means more alternative placements, behavior intervention staff, and campus-level authority—not just paperwork and second guesses from Austin.

The TEA and STAAR test both need a complete overhaul to focus on student success- reading-not bureaucratic red tape & poorly written tests. We need an agency that truly supports schools, teachers, and communities—not one that piles on more mandates w/o providing real solutions.

Fund More Teachers to Support Competency-Based Promotion. Want kids reading by 3rd grade? Pay for the interventions, staff, and time it takes to get them there. High-stakes retention without support sets kids up to fail.

Smaller Class Sizes in Early Grades.Lower K–3 class sizes lead to better literacy and long-term outcomes—but schools need funding to hire the teachers and add classrooms.

Cut Unfunded Mandates. Austin keeps adding rules without paying for them. This will allow districts to reduce staff. Give schools real support—or get out of the way. Communities know what their students need.

Fully Fund Special Education. Texas has shortchanged special ed for years. Every student deserves the services they need, and schools need the funding to provide them. Sped is hard need to reduce burnout.
