In the 1970s, this Dutch street was entirely dedicated to cars. Yes, we can change the status quo and make our public realm far more bike friendly!

Anybody who has experience working on large redesigns for well-established products—do you have any insights you can share in terms of what to expect when it's first launched? Things like temporary dips in engagement / performance / user satisfaction, & how to prepare for that?

Feeling like Jonny Lee Miller in Hackers because I realized my RJ-11 (phone) wall jacks actually had RJ-45 (ethernet) cables behind it, which I just rewired with a new keystone and a punch-down tool (all terms I didn't know last week). Unstoppable.

I got a covid booster and a flu shot today. Whether it's psychosomatic or real, I can best describe the way I feel as "whack-a-doodle."

Today's @serial special episode on Adnan's release from prison was a time machine. Hearing the theme music brought me back to a different world - pre-COVID, pre-Trump, before podcast hosts were selling themselves to Spotify for millions of dollars. 2014 feels like a century ago.

Gather round, children. Let me tell you a story about what it was like to be a designer when Adobe was the only game in town. See this claw shape my left hand is stuck in? We used to have to manually save our work every 5 seconds.

I’ve joined that e-bike life, with a tern GSD that answers the question “what if a mini van and a pick up truck had a baby, and that baby had pedals.”

I ended up getting the Asus Zenwifi XT8 system and my home network is screaming fast now, but there were several recommendations for Eero, which I think is the right "set it and forget it" option for most people. https://t.co/xykIKbHXZm

My Google Wifi mesh system is starting to fall over and I feel behind the times. I also have concrete walls and multiple rooms. What are the cool kids using nowadays - Netgear? TP-Link? Asus? Unifi?

The thing I dislike most about tech is when we commentate and opine about some on-going tragedy like it’s a sporting event, and completely ignore the human beings behind these brands, swept up in the turmoil.

I think 2 years of lockdown and no international travel ruined my hard earned micro biome. 6 weeks in South East Asia has resulted in 2 episodes where I prayed to the porcelain god and now when I look at food my stomach goes

Happy father’s day to current, past and future fathers. Being a parent is simultaneously the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. No one would choose to go on this journey if they really knew the depths, but it’s also impossible to describe the highs.

When forced to confront the worst traffic, this family commuter vehicle really does the trick. (No, we didn’t actually ride like this)

Due to the combo of intense heat (average 92 deg 🥵) and lack of sidewalks, we go to malls to stretch our legs (and push strollers). I’ve always wanted to play with one of those “rideable” mall animals.

Hey friends. 💜 Loom announced a round of layoffs yesterday and so I’m looking for my next gig. If you know someone who’s lookin for a brand design leader or creative director, tell em “hey you should talk to my friend Brooks.” DMs open!

With the hiring climate changing, I’ve been thinking about writing up my tips to present yourself as the best design candidate (outreach, resume, portfolio, on-site presentation). Is there anything in particular that would be useful to know from a hiring manager’s perspective?

Grab is dominant for car sharing, but child seats are rare, so we borrowed my brother-in-law’s Porsche Cayenne (🏎🤑) to get around. I can recommend the KLCC Aquarium and the Bird Sanctuary for kiddos. Bonus points: the Porsche trunk makes a great changing station.

I have never known exhaustion like traveling across the international date line with two children under the age of 4. 🫠
