❌ Education For All Does NOT Exist ❌ Today, Thousands of children have no school to go to and the majority have special educational needs. How is this fair? How is it acceptable to leave children feeling isolated and excluded from receiving education? #send #edutwitter

Not necessarily. Many excluded children never get places at AP as they don’t have EHCPs. 100% agree with your list - the mainstream school model should have higher staff ratios and students be able to assess a diverse range of high quality holistic support
@mumtomillion Often it precipitates the LA agreeing to fund Alternative Provision as you well know. Mainstream schools can't provide what AP provides - staffing ratios, curriculum & assessment freedoms, therapeutic interventions & small classes. You'd be out of business if we could.

What are the positive outcomes of exclusions for the child and the school? Do they learn not to repeat said behaviour? Does the school implement support to help all children? Curious to know..
SUSPENSIONS. Quick reminder: 1. Schools with challenging intakes need more disciplinary responses than ones without 2. Suspensions are one way to help reduce exclusions 3. Schools that need to suspend, need to suspend 4. If they don’t, the environment gets much worse for

The alternative provision I set up after my son was left without a full time education for 1 year was featured on @BBCSouthNews - what’s happening to thousands of children across the country is shocking & there should be a national uproar #edutwitter #EducationForAll #sendreform

The narrative that surrounds excluded children is unfair, unjust and has devastating effects on them. I urge professionals to ‘look beyond the paperwork’ and give these young adults a chance. 1/2

Thanks so much Sarah, will check all this out ❤️
@mumtomillion Lots of great people: @PookyH, @FintanOregan are good starts. I’ve got two books coming out https://t.co/a8tTbQVRxL where I provide practical strategies on PDA and ADHD.

After my son was forced out of school for 1 yr, I decided to set up an alternative provision, non-profit, to help others like him. We currently have a team of 5 on-site staff and I’m on the look out for training around PDA, Autism and ADHD. Recommendations please 🙏 #edutwitter

After only 3 months of opening @OxfordCreators - today we were filmed by BBC News. We'll be featured on a documentary next week about the amount of children being failed by the education system. I'm so proud of our students, their parents & the team, it's been an emotional day!

When my son was unlawfully excluded from school for 12 months, it felt isolating, hopeless & that no one understood. Fast forward 1 year and I've opened an alternative education provision with an incredible team. ALL children deserve the best education
