Deployment of troops to cities was never about public safety or crime – if it were, Trump would have started with the FBI’s worst cities. .It's about power, politics, grandstanding. Say martial law w/o saying it.

Anniston, AL tops the most dangerous U.S. cities list with 3,434 violent crimes per capita. East St. Louis, IL has the highest murder rate.

I am wondering why no one calls out Trump about troop deployments - he ran claiming Biden endangered troops around the world - and in 10 days Trump has suggested sending troops to Ukraine, Greenland, Panama, and now Gaza - let alone using them illegally in the US.

The US Airspace is currently shut down due to a computer failure of a critical system - the NOTAM system. Any bets on who is going to throw out the first conspiracy theory? And who it will target?.

I find it interesting that the UK, having seen the disastrous effect of huge tax breaks for the wealthiest, have rolled them back. Meanwhile, in the US, the Republicans in congress maintain them and will allow the minimal breaks for the middle class to expire in two years.

the political balance heavily conservative skewed, then it's provably a sham law (which we know already) and fodder for the Democratic candidates to use. And if he DOES hire more liberal professors, it will improve the university system. A win-win in my opinion.

So here's an idea - everybody on staff answer the survey as if they were a Trumper (which, of course, means a DeSantis-er too). From that, they'll have to make an effort to purge a percentage of the Trumpers and hire more liberal professors. And if they don't - if they leave . .

According to him, it's all anonymous, and will ONLY be used to assure "balance" at the schools. Though if it's anonymous and they want to balance the staff's "thinking" (BTW, read "loyalty") how will they know how - who's the expendables on the high side of the pendulum?.

So, DeSantis is insisting - via legislation - that students and staff in the FLA university system be "surveyed" about their political beliefs. Obviously it's the sort of thing that can easily be abused to intimidate and/or fire "improper" thinking staff - though he insists not.

Has anyone noticed there are long stretches on Twitter now when it's just news, encouraging statements from @POTUS and his administration, and actual discussions, and not rants from TFG and his minions and the resulting havoc from both ends of the spectrum? How refreshing!.

If anyone believed that mis/dis-infomation, Big Lies, and vile ad hominem attacks were going to stop with Trump's departure, and that Senators & Representatives would return to doing business on behalf of, and for the benefit of, the people -- you have another think coming.

And an "investigation" is not the venue for best practices - but a conference among the states might be a good idea to see who's procedures worked well and if other states would like to adopt them. AND to work out collectively plans for another pandemic-era election.

I notice that a number of Republicans are calling for an "investigation" to restore confidence in the elections and to find "best practices" for the states. There's no need for investigation - the states and DOJ already say the election was fair and free of organized fraud.

4. His ill-advised ACA replacement will flop and millions of citizens will be without effective medical insurance. Similarly, his plan to eliminate the payroll tax will defund Medicare & SSA, and the "general fund" will have to be increased (by taxing us) to make it up.

3. Mr. Art-of-the-Deal will continue to be unable to negotiate with the House on funding issues, and will try to run the budget by fiat. It'll end up in the Supreme Court and he'll expect loyalty from his hand-picked majority - but it won't happen.

2. W/in a year, Trump will propose of expanding the Supreme Court to at least 11 justices on the lameass excuse that "Biden was going to do that". Hailed as patriotic by the Republican senators who were aghast at "Court Packing" in the election, & Trump's supporters will exult.
