Imagine trying to convince developers to build *hobby rooms*, workshops or studio space on a new build estate. How far we've fallen.
Good news Tuesday: Two Grade II* listed Hobby Rooms at the Byker Estate in Newcastle are to be restored and brought back into use, thanks to a £98,000 grant from @HistoricEngland's Heritage at Risk Capital Fund. One Hobby Room on Spires Lane will become a vibrant new community

During the early planning for the Tyne & Wear Metro in the 1970’s demolishing part of Whitley Bay Station was discussed. This image shows the clock tower was to remain however the station facilities are the standard shelters and ticket areas of the time.
