I’m biased because Chris is a friend…BUT… this book is a masterpiece!.A fascinating exploration into what it is to be human, what it is to be creative, how we communicate and how we developed technologies from stone axes to AI….and beyond. Political & thought-provoking. A+⭐️.

The word prolific doesn’t begin to cover it! He is much missed. He was very funny with the most infectious laugh I’ve ever known, deeply intelligent and an amazingly inspiring person to know.

If you don’t know his books, .try Meg and Mog for very young children, or one of his amazing pop-ups, Haunted House or Robot… or his incredible silhouette illustrations for Joan Aiken, or the books he illustrated for David Walser… Fairy Tales, 1001 nights.

Jan also designed for the theatre… Beauty and the Beast for the Royal Opera House… an iconic G5 poster from the late 60s, and some beautiful intricate Fairy Tales artwork.

Jan kept sketchbooks at all times, here are just a few. He loved to draw anywhere and everywhere. Amazing to see how books used to be made pre-computer. And a bit of Gallery Five design. (G5 was the design company Jan set up with David Walser & Angela Holder.)
