Excited to release Part I of Optimizing with Column Generation. Not a draft. Two years of hard work led to 300 pages covering CG principles in depth. Check https://t.co/njDTUaCJmf Your feedback will help us with the forthcoming Part II on advanced techniques!

My views on the recent AlphaEvolve's announcement. Did AI just revolutionize matrix multiplication? Does it close the loop of singularity and "doom" human mathematicians? 😬Not quite. What do you think?

Latin America World Model (LAWM 1976) was a system dynamics model aimed at simulating economic, social, and environmental development of third-world countries, challenging the existing "neo-Malthusian" models. Hugo Scolnik tells great stories about LAWM!

I published 4 journal papers from my 4-year PhD. That was considered excellent back in 2000. Today, PhDs and post-docs are pressured to publish 2, 3, 4, ... papers per year to quickly achieve h-index>10. That's madness https://t.co/KRqUxgXogd

The episode also touches on very emotional human issues, his humble family origins, his difficulties establishing himself in academia, and some major personal challenges he has faced in the last 5 years.

Spotlight on Artur Pessoa: an exceptional programmer with comprehensive optimization knowledge, a brilliant mind behind many advances in column generation. He is not easily found at international conferences but his contributions are profound. Know this "hidden figure" in OR!

Visiting LOG UFPB is truly a delightful experience. It might be hard for those from outside Brazil to understand the significant challenges involved in establishing a dynamic scientific group in a region that has faced economic hardships and historical discrimination.

"They created a new, faster algorithm for solving ILP in almost the same time as the trivial binary case". Theoreticians consider binary ILP trivial! Sure, you test all the 2^n possibilities 😁 https://t.co/6hehKG9t0j

Integer linear programming can help find the answer to a variety of real-world problems. Now researchers have found a much faster way to do it.
