Back in the field to complete our Spring sampling campaign 🌸 This year we are studying how soils contribute to the lakes they surround. How does carbon flow from land into water? What happens to soil carbon when it meets water? Important questions for climate change mitigation

Our 2nd Canadian #fieldwork project for this summer is now running! Trying to discover what species should occur in #boreal forests but are missing as part of #DarkDivNet led by @MacroecologyUT. Here is gorgeous pink lady's slipper (Cypripedium acaule). Ain't bad @plantsci?

What happens when 300+ scientists analyse the same data? Not the same answer! Lessons about staying open to alternate explanations, don't rush to judge, more than one "truth" in natureπŸ€” Grateful to contribute to this amazing initiative. Read it for free:

Climate change is at a point where vast carbon stores inside forests and permafrost are being unlocked. A gathering in Yellowknife will look at what to do.

The study highlights the importance of genetic diversity in enabling species to adapt to new environmental pressures, such as invasive species and climate change. This information can help conserve nature, including these 😍 places where we worked. πŸ‘‡ 6/n
