100% it's not 'kind" to let mentally ill ppl (even if they are adults and think *they* know that's 'best' for them!) 'live' on the streets. I have a schizophrenic relative who decided to live IN PRISON, bc he kept losing control (☹️💔). But he's not "unhoused".
Anyone who has walked around a city has encountered people--mentally ill, drunk, stoned, violent, threatening those around them--who need to be institutionalized. It is not a humane policy to have them sleeping on the streets. This is a good thing.
