To follow what I am doing in East Lothian/WM and to allow my office to assist constituents I have created this account. It will not replace my own Twitter account but will assist those who need to get in touch during a busy time.

Just a few weeks back a man, and a convicted sex-offender at that, was placed in the women’s prison estate as he self ID’d as a woman. As a former Justice Secretary, I find that absurd and dangerous.
As Justice Secretary I was involved in changes to expedite the warrant process. Delays then were due to bureaucracy and IT systems. I never envisaged that police investigations might be delayed by what appears to be political considerations.
@JNHanvey
and I have asserted that Scotland’s voice will be heard in the face of a discredited PM’s continuing veto over a S30 order that would allow a consented and legal Scottish Independence Referendum to take place in accordance with the democratic mandate given by Scots. 👇🏼
I’m not comfortable with unisex toilets unless there’s good reason through lack of space. But it’s intolerable to be considering them for venues such as high schools. My discomfort’s as nothing to the fear and trauma for a pubescent girl.
Today at UK govt HQ in Edin I exposed the scandal of the Great Berwick Bank Robbery. The bounty off our shores should be a resource of affordable energy for Scots. Scandalous that 40% of it is being piped south to Northumberland - more here 👇🏼
I’m ejected for five days but you can come and go as you please [to Westminster] if you lie or if you’re a sex pest, bully your staff, or even avoid paying your taxes. The latter indeed seems to be a prerequisite for some Cabinet jobs.
Good to catch up with friends and like minded folk at the Independence March and Rally. Well done to all who made this happen

Many of us who left Sturgeon's New SNP did so not just on a policy basis but concerns over internal democracy. It’s why a mixture of sadness of what she’s done to a party we gave many years to and for the rank and file member who’s been sold many lies.

Bothered? they all left other than Chris Stephens MP. More full them. Minister onside re community benefit. I will continue to do what i can to keep this issue in public domain for the benefit of constituents in East Lothian. With or without former colleagues’ support. 🙌🏽🏴
"With over 20 years as a lawyer and 7½ years as Justice Secretary, I’ve come across some legal absurdities. However, there’s been few as great as the ridiculous situation brought about by the Scottish Government’s policy on gender self-identification" 🏴.
It's been brought to my attention that Denmark’s taking a 20% stake in every new offshore windfarm. Meanwhile we’ve the absurdity of foreign state energy companies owning ours. The SNP promised on but failed to deliver.

The time for Scotland to be independent it is NOW - We are locked out of COP26 while independent Ireland is at the top table & and has just held the Presidency of the UN Security Council. 1/2
Today’s decision to award the contract for Islay ferries to overseas contractors is a kick in the teeth to the workers at Ferguson’s. Heads must roll.

I raised Craig Murray's imprisonment with the Attorney-General. I will continue to fight for Justice for Craig Murray and to ensure that his case receives the attention it so rightly deserves.
You can read my statement here 👇
Energy-rich Scotland seeing its people probably dying as a result of fuel crisis is perverse. We have had enough mandates. We have a right to have our choice be delivered through a referendum. If they will not allow a one other routes need to be chosen.
The dual role of the Lord Advocate in Scotland must be addressed urgently. I have lodged an EDM calling on UK govt to engage with Scot govt to amend Scotland Act accordingly 👇🏼
Its time for Scottish Independence. The British state far from being strong and stable is an international laughingstock. Other small nations, some with far less advantages than us are doing significantly better 👇
My letter to the Presiding Officer in response to the decision by the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body following their shameful decision to request draconian powers from the Home Secretary in Whitehall to limit peaceful protest at Holyrood 👇🏼
Some spouting the bile against Ash Regan and Kate Forbes have been orchestrating a climate of fear within the SNP. Joining in the clamour are the Greens who want a veto on who can lead the SNP and become First Minister.
The vast bulk of SNP MPs have sat on their hands and refused to support a motion to secure a debate and vote to revoke Home Office legislation which limits protest at the Scottish Parliament, despite the SNP Conference voting against these powers 👇
A “No If’s No But’s” referendum was continually promised and patsy’s such as Sturgeon's Westminster Group Leader Ian Blackford assured all that every year it was coming, but next years was a certainty. Yet they knew that was fraudulent.
Perfect calm weather to sail from Aberdeen out to the Kincardine Field - impressive to see these floating rigs up close. Capable of powering 35k homes across Scotland.
In 2014 Scots were told we’d lose our EU membership, strength of pound, protection for pensions and NHS, Britain would be a force for good in the world. Instead: Brexit, the pound has crashed, NHS and pensions being undermined and the UK’s a laughingstock.
What the Chancellor is doing is taking from the poor and giving to the rich. Giving to this generation and impoverishing the young and future generations. That is why Scotland wants its referendum. We want the opportunity build a better and fairer society.
Nicola Sturgeon has been facing turbulence for quite some time as austerity bites and failures mount. Simply not being Boris Johnson isn’t enough and patience’s wearing thin.
The glee SNP leadership pursued Margaret Ferrier was shameful and lacking in any tactical nous. She had done wrong, but she admitted it, was heavily punished by the courts, and when numerous others faced either no charge or simply fixed penalties.
We keep going. We keep talking. We keep engaging. We need out of this knackered Union. We need to give folk the facts about the benefit of independence. Next stop - Dundee! See you there 🏴

My EDM condemning the Israeli brutality in East Jerusalem and Gaza. I am calling on the UK govt to do likewise and push for the upholding of international law.

I hope Members on the SNP benches will support the call for an Independence Convention - after all, it was a call made and supported by the First Minister in February 2020. We are now approaching three years on, it is time that Convention was delivered.
The Independence Movement is alive and well, but the days of supine acceptance of SNP diktat are gone, as are the days of being told it’s not now, it’s too soon or just to wheesht. It’s game on with or without them.
BREAKING: The former SNP leadership candidate Ash Regan has joined the Alba Party.
Alex Salmond made the announcement during a speech to the Alba Party conference
No excuse now for Sturgeon not delivering on a referendum in 2023. Senior MPs say Tory consent isn’t required. Simply lodging a Bill and allowing the legislative sausage machine to mince it’s not enough. Like other independence activists, I stand ready.
She’s been punished by the courts and the sanction imposed by parliament is far more severe than for others. Yet again it’s one law for wealthy Tories and another for everyone else. 👇🏼
Its simply unacceptable we see Grangemouth closed without a fight. UKGov has got the benefits of Scotland's oil and should pay for it. It's about time ScotGov stood up for industrial Scotland and the workers who at one point put trust and faith in them.
Scottish Democracy and an impartial justice system demands the separation of powers. The role of the Lord Advocate must change quickly so the Chief Prosecutor & Senior Legal Adviser to the

Today I introduced a Ten Minute Rule Energy Costs (Pre-payment Meters and Social Tariffs) Bill to abolish higher standing charges for pre-payment meter customers and to compel energy companies to introduce a social tariff as happens in other countries. 1/
Very proud of my friends Kenny Macaskill MP and Neale Hanvey MP for disrupting PMQ's and getting thrown out of the House of Commons.
Scottish MPs should be sabotaging the union, not helping to run it.
Nationalist MPs are “not elected to administer the British State but to continue the drive for independence”
My thoughts here 👇🏼🏴

Watching the procedural chaos unfolding in the Palace of Westminster on this gravest of issues, who can possibly believe that this Chamber is any longer capable of representing Scotland on the international stage
#CeasefireNOW
People are literally counting the pennies to afford electricity but, on an annualised basis, the average standing charge amounts to £251.64 in southern Scotland, £241.84 in northern Scotland, yet only £166.13 in London.
Nicola Sturgeon failing to thank Ash Regan for her service was petty and the suggestion that she didn’t know about concerns the former Minister had are quite incredulous.
Access to Justice and my question to the Minister - is it now time to free Julian Assange who has been incarcerated since April 2019? Or at the very least permit him to appear in Court in person? A scandalous situation that must be addressed.

Simply announcing that you intend to hold a referendum’s not a strategy for independence, especially when neither a date’s specified, nor any other plans detailed necessary for it to progress, let alone succeed.
So the Scottish Government presses on with its GRA nonsense. Despite roll backs by the Supreme Court and warnings from the Equality and Human Rights Commission, on they march 👇
I’m not a betting man but if I was, I’d positively bet against an independence referendum being held and certainly not in the timescales the FM has bandied about 👇
This is a foolish act of military aggression that will undoubtedly lead to an escalation in the entire region and that will only prolong war resulting in more deaths and suffering.

tells chancellor UK is on “a route to disaster” paid for by poor and middle income earners, impoverishing future generations, with social issues we saw in the 80s. "That is why Scotland demands a referendum - we want a better, fairer society"
📃This morning I will be opening a Westminster Hall Debate on The Level of Public Ownership in the Offshore Wind Sector. The people of Scotland must benefit from the profits generated by offshore wind.
This evening I will use a Commons Debate to slam the robbery of Scotland’s rich energy bounty while half of all Scots households face fuel poverty this winter, and highlight the Eastern Link undersea cable, a multi-billion pound infrastructure project.
My question on Trade Deal. 200 years ago Highland clearances saw people shamefully replaced by sheep for landlord profits. This deal threatens to supplant those sheep with cheap imports for Tory dogma who simply don’t care about scottish crofters & farmers
These women have not simply suffered a financial injustice, but they have been denied the ability to carry out what they wanted, prepared and, should have been, entitled to do.

Today I asked Minister for Women and Equalities, Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, if the UK Government will ensure that the police record the correct sex of offenders in order to allow criminal justice data to show accurate analysis.
Too many SNP MPs have sat mute during all the latest shenanigans even when challenged as to what do they want their political obituary to be, “served in Westminster 2015-24.” Who knew?
It is about time that we committed into statute that Scotland's oil will be refined in Scotland's refinery. Our workers and our country can expect no less, and it is not a great deal of money that is being sought.
Scotland’s Refinery is to close but UKGov will be supporting opening a new one in Belgium. It’s time the ScotGov heeded facts and defended the workforce and the plant. Supine acceptance of Ineos and UK spin is unacceptable.
Society has to be judged by how it looks after its poorest and most vulnerable. Scotland's energy wealth is being used to make the rich richer. The Budget enriches those already rich in England and is exploiting the natural benefit and bounty Scotland has.

I'm pleased to have secured a Westminster Hall debate today to call for Route Development Fund to ensure direct ferry links to Europe. It will be posted in full this afternoon, however you can read my speech here 👇
When Thatcher unleashed the City, it didn’t see wealth trickle down and the country enhanced. Instead, areas were left to rot, drugs and alcohol flowed in where there had once been work and vibrant communities.
The price of The Union is Trident next to our biggest centres of population, no investment in carbon capture & storage essential to achieve net zero, drug deaths at highest level, energy prices rising & kids growing up in poverty. We need Indy NOW for our people & for our planet
Even if every seat in Scotland had voted Labour in 2019, Johnson would have won, as Thatcher managed in her day. The problem therefore lies in England not Scotland and tactics to win there are what should matter for Labour.
People are struggling and fearful of what might come. That was one of the reasons I joined the RMT on the picket line. Wage increases are needed for the many, not tax cuts for the few. Strikes are going to increase driven by desperation not choice.
Can the UK Treasury not find the tens of millions - not tens of billions they will get from revenue - to ensure that the Grangemouth hydrocracker can be restarted?
Already paying outrageous prices for our domestic electricity yet almost all's provided by our own renewable energy. The Irish will benefit from the profits of the resource we’ll be able to see from our shore, yet Scottish Power/SSE are privatised.
Those most deprived and those often most dependent upon the need for power and energy see themselves paying higher standing charges and higher tariffs - that hasn't been touched while support has been given to the very wealthy. That must end.
Many know that Scotland produces more energy than required. Much goes onto the national grid and goes south. What most don’t know is that so much is produced and with the grid capacity lacking, that onshore turbines are often curtailed or just switched off
This is not just about securing offshore jobs in the oil and gas industry in the short term – it’s about Scotland’s industrial skill base and ability to compete for high- quality engineering jobs for generations to come.
#Grangemouth
Turbines being manufactured by Siemens in Hull with the only work relating to construction being the assembly in Dundee. The high value contracts and high paid jobs are in construction not assembly and a few miles along the coast, BiFab at Methil lies idle
