I have some new followers, so as a way of re-introducing myself, here are some photos of my newly renovated BatCave (lab) where I do research on baseball/softball bats, golf clubs & balls, tennis rackets, hurling sticks, hockey sticks, pickleball & ping-pong paddles & balls . . .

I had forgotten that I made this video several years ago: Robert Keolian's apparatus for demonstrating how the Basilar membrane works - the von Békésy "place theory of hearing" https://t.co/341x4tLLtU via @YouTube

Now that the U.S. is no longer making the 1-cent penny coin, I was reminded of these 1-cent paper bills we used to use in Hong Kong in the 1970’s.

I research the vibration of sports equipment like baseball bats, golf clubs, tennis rackets, pickleball paddles, etc. This summer I had some Torpedo bats (Paul Goldschmidt NYY) in my lab to see whether the torpedo bat profile changes the location of the vibration sweet spot.

I'm enjoying reading "The Forgotten Preface" by @JoshuaBarzon . . . even more so after picking up this beautiful 2025 Thomas Nelson facsimile of the actual 1611 KJV (original spellings and layout) with the original preface. 11 pages of tiny print! I had no idea it was so long!

Holy #plagiarism, Batman! I just found a 2020 book chapter that plagiarized my data originally submitted (paper copies only!) to @JournalPhysics in 1998 before editor asked me to rotate the plots for publication. How did these authors obtain my original unpublished plots?

Really frustrating when you buy a used book from a bookstore and the book cover shown matches the covers of the rest of the set you are trying to complete but when the book arrives it has a completely different cover!! I ordered it specifically because of the cover shown!

I've been reluctant to read "The Discarded Image" (not sure why) but decided I need to read it because so many other books I've been reading mention or refer to it. Fortunately I managed to find a good used copy with a much better looking cover! @jacqueboatman @Andrewnsnyder

“We made the discovery (some people never make it) that real books can be taken on a journey and that hours of golden reading can be added to its other delights. (It is important to acquire early in life the power of reading sense wherever you happen to be.)” C.S. Lewis.

I've always been a huge fan of the extensive footnotes in Pierce's "ACOUSTICS" textbook . . . but I've found a new favorite: "Wind Waves" by Kinsman. Writing style is delightfully refreshing for a textbook, but this full-page footnote on Bernoulli family history is amazing!

Words to live by: "Buy books, acquire books, read them when you can. You should always have more books in your library than you have read. You should never have read all of your books. If you have read them all, you're not buying fast enough." https://t.co/474etFKgdo

Two weeks ago I had Goldschmidt’s torpedo bat in my lab for vibration testing. Today I’m at Yankee stadium (with my family for Old Timers day) watching him swing it trying to help the Yankees get back to winning some games.

Made a new movie trailer for one of the graduate courses in #Acoustics I'll be teaching for the Graduate Program in Acoustics Penn State @PSUEngineering this Fall 2025 semester. https://t.co/nXE4s1SO6j via @YouTube

I really hate the brand new PSU ECoRE Bldg. Temp on 1st floor 71F, 2nd floor 72.2F, 3rd floor 73.4F. My office on 4th floor is 76.6F with two fans on high and door wide open. I'm sweating while sitting and typing. Office AC doesn't work unless 75% of offices are occupied.

30 years of making animations . . . I'm updating HTML code for my Acoustics and Vibration Animations website (for WCAG accessibility and HTML5) and found an archive of my site from 25 years ago with a photo of me in my office at Kettering University. https://t.co/wV57LETK0Z
