6/6 Loyalty is #Alberta vulnerability. Data shows the emotional attachment for young people living in Toronto and Vancouver is far higher than Calgary and Edmonton. Great brands don't just have loyal customers, they have passionate brand advocates. This is our Holy Grail.

5/6 As in business, if a customer is prepared to cross the street to a competitor save $1, you don't have a relationship, you have a transaction. Having them choose to stay, even when paying a premium, because they have an emotional attachment to a brand/ place is REAL loyalty.

4/6 Loyalty is much deeper and where previous research suggests #Alberta is vulnerable. Issues related to inclusivity, climate, and the environment remain key drivers for young people when deciding where to live.

3/6 In fact interest rates will work in #Alberta favour because a $800K mortgage in the #GTA at 4% vs. 10% for a young family is a gamechanger. However, no business is sustainable when they compete solely on price. There are always more affordable places to live.

2/6 For example, sending a highly educated computer science graduate to #Ontario, but getting two high school graduates working seasonal construction is a net loss for our economy. Secondly, the "why" is critical. The hypothesis it is related to affordability is logical.

1/6 @trevortombe assessment of the interprovincial migration is bang on. This is fantastic news and a critical reversal. However, we need to be cautious for a few key reasons. Firstly, there is yet no breakdown on the "who". They "who" is critical for sustained economic growth.
