Got this for Christmas and it’s probably one of the favorite gifts I received! Love the Universal Monsters and I’m thrilled to revisit faves and explore the various sequels. Going to use this as a thread to catalog my reviews/thoughts if anyone wants to follow along!

on one hand, miyazaki paints the natural world in Princess Mononoke as one of primeval, spiritual harmony beyond our comprehension; an ancestral link to the universe before we joined it. on the other, he makes lady eboshi super cool & hot, so who knows which side he's really on.

Somebody was paying attention when Gene Hackman told that story about how Richard Donner tricked Hackman into agreeing to shave his mustache by agreeing to shave his own mustache - which Donner subsequently revealed to be a clip on.
Emma Stone agreed to shave her head for Bugonia (2025) on one condition: director Yorgos Lanthimos had to shave his too. She even used the buzzer on him herself to ensure solidarity before filming her own scene.

Lot of Bruce Campbell EVIL DEAD love on the timeline, and understandably so. But I want to give a shout out to his great work in BUBBA HO-TEP. The premise (“Elvis vs. a mummy!!”) is inherently silly, but he plays it without winking at the audience, and that makes it even better
