I feel like this confirms my gut feeling during the pandemic. Excellent work and by a local colleague 😃 Well done Caroline! @BHRUT_NHS @CED_BHRUT
Important you own mistakes/misinterpretations Initial data indicated perhaps diabetes change during #COVID19 wasn't significant. Now have data showing there was a change - thanks to Dr. Caroline Ponmani thanks to DIMPLES study via @PERUKItweep

Thank you @Damian_Roland. An essential read for acute Paediatric colleagues.
"Time to change the reference ranges of children's physiological observations in emergency care?" Our study’s 5th centile was higher at nearly every age than equivalent APLS centile (cohort of 191292 children in General Emergency Departments) https://t.co/qxuvEZaxSc

I think it will be good for anyone who is seeing these patients. 😊😊😊
@catsretrieval Sounds interesting, is it suitable for senior HCAs who work with children ?

Agreed @Damian_Roland
Mixing feeling about sharing mis-information further but Richard is right - this is not true. While doctors do consider response to antipyretic (although the evidence base for doing this is actually weak) it does NOT mean you need antibiotics.

Hi @thetimes, this is not true and will cause HUGE public anxiety and unnecessary burden on services. Please correct ASAP. I'm sure anyone from @RCPCHtweets @rcgp @RCEMpresident or @RCPhysicians will be happy to counter this

Thank you for putting this message out. Parents please read this:
As paediatricians, we fully appreciate parents might worry about the news on higher levels of #GroupStrepA - This is a very common bacteria that can be treated with antibiotics, and serious complications from the infection are rare. See more info here: https://t.co/TaZChgRiNY

I could not agree more. And not just Group A Strep either…
Really important that any commentator on the current rise in scarlet fever & Group A strep infections does not use high fever as a criteria for parents to seek medical help. It is the child's behaviour and appearance that is important. @BBCBreakfast
