Our friend Dr Noman Baig has been treated unfairly by AIPS President, Dr Matt Cooke, and threatened with dismissal barely 4 months after being hired. He has been subjected to harassing emails threatening legal action for merely raising his voice against his unfair treatment.
AIPS President in the US Dr Matthew Cook arbitrarily terminated the appointment of AIPS Pak director Dr Noman Baig, a well-respected scholar. Pak academics have in a joint statement asked for an investigation into this:

Our friend, Dr Noman Baig, has been treated unfairly & threatened with dismissal by American Institute of Pakist Studies (AIPS) President. This is no way to treat indigenous scholar/staff n smells of White Privilege & colonial mindset! @SMAhmed1981 @ShahzebJillani @AmeemLutfi
Dr. Noman Baig, a prof at Habib Uni & respected colleague, was arbitrarily dismissed from his post as director in Pakistan of the AIPS after 4 months. Such actions reek of colonialism, which persist in the attitudes of some scholars in the Global North.
