My almost 2yr old daughter came into my office as I was looking at a foot xray. She goes ā€œfeet!ā€ā€¦ never been more proud.

If they made thyroid ultrasounds 1 RVU instead of .56 RVU, I’d read all of them.

I gave my best years to medicine. Missed birthdays, bedtime stories, first steps, last moments. Swallowed the lie of our ā€˜indispensability.’. The truth? . Medicine will take everything if you let it. And it will never love you back. Don’t regret it like me.

When they tell you American healthcare is šŸ’© despite all the expenses, it’s data manipulation to fit a narrative. American physicians are amongst the best in the world. The reason mortality in preg women is up is because they measure it differently now.

If you dictate a full findings and multi-point impression on a chest xray, you’re doing it wrong.

RT @amyfaithho: I don’t believe the ā€œ40% of med students don’t plan to practiceā€ stat…but even if I did, here’s some more relevant stats.….

I have the best health insurance you can buy on the private market. Can someone please tell me how Tamiflu is $39?? I really do hate insurance companies and big pharma.

Ok but where is the link to the ā€œresearchā€ the surgeon general has that came to this conclusion? I have to see it myself.

I will definitely miss IR, but at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for me and my family. Flexibility, time with family, and lack of all of the aforementioned drawbacks of IR, is the only way forward for me. Maybe I’ll don the lead again in the future. Who knows.

I genuinely do love IR if IR is/can be practiced the way it should be. Unfortunately, our specialty has become sort of a dumping ground for things people don’t want to manage or deal with. True IR at an OBL or team-oriented large group or academic hospital is the way to go.

-added stress and time spent dealing with unavoidable procedural complications.-constant interruptions throughout the day.-getting radiated.-being on call.-being forced to do cases because of hospital politics.-urgent cases that have been sitting all day but IR consulted at.

I had this attending in fellowship that would do liver biopsies (that would literally take me 5 sec to do with ultrasound) with this fancy 3D navigation ultrasound/CT combo software. Took like 15 min to setup and procedure took waaaaay longer than it needed to. I’ll never.

Students enrolled on about 40% of America’s master’s courses will either make no extra money or incur a financial loss, per the Economist.
