Our PhD student @gen_durrington passed her PhD confirmation with flying colours. Look forward to learn more about how far we can theoretically push crop yield with her crop optimisation algorithm - CropGen. Thank @arc_gov_au, @theGRDC, @QAAFI for supporting this important work.

Way to go Gen and CropGen.
Thank you @CoEPlantSuccess for the opportunity to present my PhD research so far! A great first day @TropAg2022 #sorghum #cropimprovement #TropAg2022.

Q: How can we get more value out of photosynthetic engineering?. A: Put advanced crop models to work to understand the full GxExM consequences and predict crop yield outcomes. So privileged to have the opportunity to lead this work with such a great team @QAAFI @leaf2field.
New strategies to improve yield in global staple crops are needed if production keeps pace with growing demand. #OpenAccess article in @PlantCellEnvir examines the effects of photosynthetic enhancement on crop growth and yield across environments. ➡️

A conference marathon week, but a great way to finish the week. Thank the organisers for the opportunity to present my ideas on GxExM and plant breeding. Had the opportunity to highlight my PhD students crop optimisation and trait dissection work @gen_durrington @Xia_JIN_.
That’s a wrap on the Centre’s GxExM (Genotype x Environment x Management) Symposium. Well done to the organisers - CIs Mark Cooper and Graeme Hammer, and AIs Fred van Eeuwijk and Charlie Messina 👏

Cross-Scale Plant/Crop Modelling to: (1) generate new ideas for making crops more productive, and (2) identify knowledge gaps for focusing plant science research. Combine research excellence and real world impact we can achieve so much! @asps_ozplants @QAAFI.

If you are interested in wine grapes make sure to talk to @Curious_Tory. She is great to work with.
Friends, we'll soon be advertising a PhD Scholarship to join me working on developing novel and safe technologies for managing botrytis bunch rot in wine grapes with @ARC_CropProtect on the beautiful Cradle Coast in Tassie @TasInAg. Domestic & international candidates welcome.

Congratulations Susanne!.
Professor von Caemmerer says that the ability of mathematical models to test out new mechanisms and theories before they are applied is crucial to feeding the world. Congratulations again to Professor von Caemmerer, inaugural recipient of the Suzanne Cory Medal! #ShineDome21.
