the first song is ‘under the influence’. A perfect upbeat way to start this album. His raspy voice and soul melodies instantly grabbed my intention even when i was 5. (which was how old i was when i heard this for the first time)

one of my fav songs on this album is ‘the pieces don’t fit anymore’. The slow drums backed by the sad humming melody gets me every time. The lyrics are so raw. a running theme on this album is that the songs are perfectly simple. Other than some weird ass bridges he put in
i got the most emotional listening to the song ‘The letter’ when i first heard the LP. I’m not rlly sure why. I guess i was sending a letter to someone i liked at the time. Never really related to a song in that way before. - R

One of the first times i ever performed in front of a crowd i sung ‘this boy’. again, i related so hard to this song when i was 7 haha. lyrics are so specific and sweet, the melodies and production match that perfectly imo.

It's hard to find the words to say goodbye to Mark E Smith, but here we go: a punk, a genius, a tireless revolutionary, a joker, a provocateur, and a great musician. Probably we've forgotten a few. Thanks for all the music, Mark. RIP

the last few tracks of the album flow so nicely. it’s where we start to head to proper ballad town. however ‘how come’ is a driving soul/pop banger that’s so much fun to sing along to, then it transitions into one of the saddest songs on the record ‘the last goodbye’ - R
And here it is, the last track. ‘Better man’. an absolute tear jerker. Thank you
