What Mr. Albas doesn't understand is those Chinese BYDs would likely displace other EVs that are not built in Canada. Like, say, Elon Musk's Teslas, which are built in Texas and California. Win-win. As usual, the cons are playing checkers while everyone else plays chess.
Liberals are downplaying the agreement on Chinese EVs saying it represents only 3% of annual car sales-spin. If we use EV sales in 🇨🇦, with 2024 as baseline, the initial cap of 49,000 cars would represent 18% of EV sales & the eventual cap of 70,000 would be 26% of sales in 🇨🇦.
