@DarrenSabedra John was good for Skyline, good for Laney, good for teenagers/young men. For all who coach college and High School…he was one of the best. He dedicated his life to his profession of making men out of boys.

@velenajones @nbcbayarea Cedric played for me. Very saddening as I played for Beam and Coached Cedric. He should’ve organically had respect for Coach Beam, being a Skyline legend that we honored regularly during my time there.

Coach John Beam was the best of us. After all the work he put in over 4 decades, all the unpaid assistance he - and his family - provided to those in need, his murder is a massive tragedy and a colossal loss to the greater Oakland community. So irrational and so infuriating.
